First, we’ll make sure a crown is the best option for you.
Your dentist will assess the tooth and discuss the procedure, risks and alternatives before preparing it. Anaesthetic options and comfort measures depend on individual assessment.
Next, instead of those traditional, often messy impression moulds, we use our digital scanner.
A digital scanner records images of the prepared tooth. Scanning can cause discomfort or need repeating for some people.
Then comes the exciting part, which is designing your custom crown.
Crowns and bridges may help restore selected teeth or replace missing teeth. The number of appointments, fit, appearance and function depend on the individual case. Adjustments, maintenance and eventual repair or replacement may be needed.
Once we’re happy with the design, we send the details to our in-practice milling unit.
This clever machine precisely carves your new crown from a small block of high-quality, tooth-coloured ceramic. It usually takes only about 10 to 20 minutes to create your crown whilst you wait. You can even watch it being made if you’re interested!
Finally, we fit your brand new crown.
When the crown is ready, the dentist checks its fit and appearance before bonding it to the prepared tooth. Further adjustments or appointments may be needed.
