Case Note ID: 08-2025-PVN
Location:North Sydney (serving Cremorne, Kirribilli, and Neutral Bay)
Primary Treatments: Porcelain Veneers
Supporting Technology: Digital Smile Design (DSD)
A 30-year-old patient presented at our North Sydney practice with concerns relating to the untreated lower arch. Many people in Cremorne, Kirribilli, and Neutral Bay ask whether porcelain veneers can restore balance when only one arch has been previously treated.
Clinical assessment identified the following:
The primary goal was to complete the arch relationship, ensuring both arches worked together in balance.
A structured, three-phase treatment plan was implemented to address these concerns.
Phase 1: Diagnostic & Planning
Comprehensive records were obtained, including photographs, digital scans, and occlusal analysis. Digital Smile Design was used to evaluate the lower teeth relative to the upper veneers, allowing simulation of ideal tooth proportions and positions before treatment commenced.
Phase 2: Preparation & Temporisation
Minimal tooth preparation was carried out to preserve natural structure while creating space for veneers. Provisional veneers were fitted, allowing functional testing of bite, phonetics, and aesthetics. Feedback during this stage confirmed the planned changes before proceeding to final fabrication.
Phase 3: Definitive Restoration
Ten porcelain veneers were designed and fabricated for the lower teeth. The use of in-house ceramist collaboration ensured precise shade matching with the existing upper veneers. Final placement was completed under adhesive bonding protocols, with occlusion carefully refined for long-term stability.
The treatment successfully addressed the patient’s presenting issues:
The final result was a consistent and proportionate relationship between the upper and lower arches, meeting the treatment objectives.
The number varies depending on clinical need. In Aleyna’s case, ten veneers were selected to achieve full-arch symmetry with the upper restorations.
With good oral hygiene and regular dental maintenance, porcelain veneers can last 10–15 years or longer.
Some patients treat one arch first and complete the other later. Planning ensures both arches integrate functionally and appearance-wise.
Patients may experience mild sensitivity after preparation, which usually subsides within days. Normal function is maintained throughout, with follow-up reviews to ensure comfort.
